A long established home based worker herself, Riona Carroll has also taken part in and managed many e-Work related initiatives on a national and international basis.

She was a member of the Irish Government’s National Advisory Council on Teleworking and a member of the National e-Work Action Forum whose achievement included the development of the Code of Practice for eWork in Ireland, which won the EU “Best Example of Framework Agreement” award during European eWork Week 2000.
She authored “The Sixty Second Commute – an e-Work Guide for Managers” and edited “The Manager’s Guide to Telework” and “Telework for Business Start Ups”, which were published by Telework Ireland with the support of Enterprise Ireland.
She initiated and co-ordinated “The Shortest Route to Work” research in association with Amarach Consulting and Eircom.
She initiated and managed the Enterprise Ireland Supported training programme for e-work mentors and was closely involved in the Telework Ireland/FÁS initiative “Software Testing and Localisation Skills for e-Workers”
She has also organised three major conferences which attracted international participation and attendance, and chaired “ICT for Business – Training Programmes for a New Era” at the Queen Elizabeth Conference Centre, Westminster, London.
